I had heard about a strange new trend making rounds on the internet, but it wasn’t until I saw it for myself that I truly understood the gravity of the situation. I was scrolling through my Twitter feed one day when I stumbled upon a bizarre story about real looking Taylor Swift sex toys dolls. I was simultaneously appalled and curious. How could this be real, and why did people think it was a good idea?
At first, I assumed it was a one-off. But the more I looked into it, the more I realized that this was indeed becoming popular. People were actually purchasing these dolls, customized to look like the singer. It was enough to make me sick. I couldn’t believe a person could be so callous as to commodify one of the biggest icons in music.
At first, I thought the trend would quickly fade, but it actually seemed to become more popular as time went on. People flocked to the dolls, creating an entire industry of manufacturing and selling them. I was more than a little disgusted, especially with the fact that people seemed to be getting some strange kind of entertainment out of it. Were there no limits, no boundaries that just could not be crossed?
As I thought about it more, I realized that the people behind these dolls had very cleverly cashed in on the fame of Taylor Swift. She had always been an object of both admiration and envy, and evidently these manufacturers were taking full advantage of that. People were succumbing to the idea of having a celebrity in their home, right in the bedroom even.
The thought that people were reducing a celebrity down to a mere sex object, not to mention using a doll to satisfy physical pleasure, made my blood boil. It was downright disgusting that society had reached this point. Such a trend could only lead to more commodification and vibrators objectification of women, which in turn could only lead to more harm to real-life women and girls.
And yet, despite all of this, I admit I was slightly intrigued. I wanted to know more about these dolls, and how they worked. I could not understand why people were choosing them over actual human interaction. How could someone even find joy and pleasure with a lifeless, plastic doll?
At the same time, I also understood why the industry was growing. I mean, think about it: life-size, customizable dolls that looked like a famous celebrity? It certainly made for a successful business opportunity, no doubt. Nevertheless, it still doesn’t make it right, or at least in my opinion it doesn’t.
The thing about this trend is that it’s hard to understand why it’s become so popular, so quickly. I suppose everyone has to draw their own conclusions, but for me, this is a trend worth avoiding. It reduces a person to nothing more than an object, and that’s simply not okay. We should be able to look at and respect each other as individuals, not as mere objects of pleasure.
The idea of these dolls made me more aware of the beauty and power of self-reflection and personal growth. Instead of looking for an external solution, it’s important to look inward, at our own desires and passions. That is how we truly grow and become the best versions of ourselves.
